Shared Values – Team Building Activity

Purpose:
Deepen understanding of team members’ core values and what motivates them, fostering trust and alignment within the group.
The Activity:
- Gather your team in a comfortable setting free from distractions and interruptions.
- One person at a time shares a core value or belief that guides their work and personal life.
- When one person is sharing, everyone else listens without interrupting or commenting.
- To ensure everyone has a chance to speak, keep each participant’s sharing brief—around 1-2 minutes per person.
- After each person shares, move to the next person until everyone has had an opportunity to share once.
- After everyone has shared, ask the whole group: “What is the meaning of this activity?” Allow anyone who wants to share to do so briefly.
Benefits of This Team Building Activity:
- Builds empathy by encouraging team members to see the world through each other’s perspectives.
- Creates a sense of connection and shared purpose based on personal values.
- Strengthens trust and openness within the team, laying the groundwork for deeper collaboration.
- Promotes active listening skills and respect for diverse beliefs.
